Retirement Income Planning Florida Launches No-Cost Retirement Income Gap Analysis Program for Pre-Retirees Statewide. No-cost planning service helps Florida households approaching retirement quantify the shortfall between essential monthly expenses and guaranteed income

Retirement Income Planning Florida, doing business as Advanced Capital Management, today announced the launch of its Retirement Income Gap Analysis program, a structured planning service for Florida households within ten years of retirement.

The program applies a methodology developed by firm principal John Ziesing, FRC, who has spent 35 years in financial services. Participants complete a worksheet itemizing essential monthly expenses — housing, healthcare, insurance, food, utilities and transportation — then subtract guaranteed income sources including Social Security and any pension benefits. The remaining figure is what the firm calls the retirement income gap.

"Most people arrive at retirement with an account balance and no idea what monthly paycheck it produces," said John Ziesing, FRC, principal at Advanced Capital Management. "The number that matter is not the balance. It is the gap between what a household must spend every month and what arrives automatically. Once that number is on paper, the planning conversation changes entirely."

The launch responds to a structural shift in how Americans fund retirement. As employer pensions have given way to defined contribution plans, responsibility for converting savings into lifetime income has moved to individual households. Florida, home to one of the largest retiree populations in the United States, has a concentrated share of families managing that transition without a guaranteed income floor beyond Social Security.

The program also addresses sequence-of-returns risk — the possibility that poor market performance in the years immediately before and after retirement, a period the firm refers to as the retirement red zone, forces withdrawals from a declining portfolio and permanently shortens how long assets last.

Program Components Include:

  • A completed Retirement Income Gap Analysis identifying the monthly shortfall between essential expenses and guaranteed income
  • A written comparison of funding approaches, including systematic portfolio withdrawals and partial annuitization using single premium immediate annuities or fixed indexed annuities with income riders
  • A plain-language handout distinguishing account value from benefit base, an area the firm identifies as a frequent source of consumer confusion
  • A liquidity review intended to keep six to twelve months of expenses accessible outside of any contract
The firm's stated approach is to address the gap rather than the full account balance. "Annuitize the gap, not the account," Ziesing said. "Cover what cannot be left to chance, and keep the remainder invested and liquid."

The Retirement Income Gap Analysis is available at no cost to Florida residents. Prospective participants can request the firm's Guide to Income Gap Planning or schedule a consultation at www.retirementincomeplanningflorida or by calling 727-542-7659.
